Getting some Thai in the house

There is that old(ish) ad, a boy and girl sitting on the stoep, and he whispers names of coffees in her ear. She says: "I love it when you speak foreign". 😉

We might not be able to serve you fancy coffees anymore, but Anneke and I love to "speak foreign" when it comes to ingredients and staples in our pantry.

Sriracha was introduced years ago to me by a good friend. It took a while before I had the guts to buy a bottle. Now it is a standard ingredient or add-on to dinner.

Sriracha is a hot sauce or chilli sauce made from a paste of chilli peppers, distilled vinegar, garlic, sugar, and salt. Once you have one of these, you will have one in your cupboard as a backup. It can be used over or in almost anything.

Authentically made in Thailand, Sriracha Extra Hot Chilli Sauce is a rich blend of chillies and garlic, used as an ingredient to spice up your stir fry. Luckily, it is not that hot!

Like the Extra Hot one, Sriracha Mayo Chilli Sauce is also a rich blend of chillies and garlic, but with mayonnaise and mustard. Perfect as a dip with Ha Gau and Din Sum. It can also be used as an ingredient to spice up your stir fry. It is also suitable for vegetarians.

Both of these are also suitable for vegetarians.

There are many other Sriracha sauces, but these are the real deal, imported from Thailand.
