The Deli started in a home kitchen.

What began as sourcing good-quality pantry items for friends and family — things that were hard to find or well-priced — quickly grew into something bigger. Orders multiplied, word spread, and before long our home became a small deli with a coffee shop on the stoep and in the garden. A place for good food, conversation, and community.

Then Covid arrived.

Like many small businesses, we had to close our doors. But that challenge forced a shift that would shape The Deli into what it is today. With people shopping differently and access to specialised foods becoming harder, we moved online — initially as a backup plan, and soon as a clear way forward.

When our physical shop was permanently closed in 2023, we made a bold decision:
The Deli would become fully online.
